Before I began making sculpture, I collected objects. My initial attraction to an object is unconscious, but overtime the act of collection produces a lexicon of themes, mannerisms, forms and associations. This process has evolved to become foundational to my work, as a mode of thinking through ideas materially before producing them as sculpture. Because of this, I think of collection as a sketch that occurs prior to drawing and prior to model-making.
